1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Mumble Voice ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and handles your personal data ("Personal Data"), and what choices you have when you use our website, Chrome extension, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the practices described here, please do not access or use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide and improve our Services. If you do not provide information when requested, you may not be able to use some or all of our Services.
Account and identity. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google in accordance with your permissions.
Usage data. We collect data related to your use of the Services, such as subscription status, plan type, trial end date, monthly usage (minutes of dictation, words formatted, session count), and custom dictionary words you add for improved recognition.
Voice and text processing. When you use dictation, your audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider for real-time transcription, and the resulting text may be sent to our text-formatting provider to clean up and format the output. We do not store your raw audio. We use this data solely to deliver the Services.
Payment information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor, Stripe, Inc., collects and processes your payment-related information (e.g. name, email, billing address, card or banking details). We do not store your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Cookies and session data. We use a session cookie (e.g. better-auth.session_token) to keep you logged in. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
3. Use of Data
We use your information to: provide, update, maintain, and improve our Services; process your subscription and billing; communicate with you (e.g. service-related or support emails); comply with applicable laws and regulations or legal process; and protect the security and integrity of our Services. We do not sell your Personal Data. Our lawful basis for processing will depend on the context (e.g. contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, or legal obligation).
4. Cookies and Session Storage
We use a session cookie to authenticate you and keep you logged in across our website and extension. We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you on third-party sites. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may affect your ability to stay logged in.
5. Retention of Data
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage data is retained for billing and product improvement. We will delete or anonymize Personal Data when it is no longer needed or after applicable retention periods.
6. Transfer of Data
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside your state, province, or country, where data protection laws may differ. If you are outside the United States and provide information to us, we may transfer and process it in the United States. Your use of the Services represents your agreement to that transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
7. Sharing With Others
We may disclose Personal Data to: service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g. hosting and databases, payment processing, speech recognition, text formatting, authentication). These providers are contractually restricted from using your data for purposes other than providing services to us. We may share data with legal and regulatory authorities when required by law or to protect our rights and safety. In the event of a merger, sale of assets, or acquisition, we may disclose Personal Data in connection with that transaction. We do not sell your data to third parties.
8. How We Secure Your Information
We implement technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, update, or delete your information; to have inaccuracies corrected; to object to or restrict processing; to receive a portable copy of your data; and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@mumblevoice.io. We may need to verify your identity. We may not be able to provide the Services without some necessary data.
10. Children's Personal Data
Our Services are not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). If you are under 18, you may need your parent or guardian's consent to use the Services. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us at support@mumblevoice.io.
11. Service Providers
We use third-party companies and services to operate our Services (e.g. infrastructure, payments, speech-to-text, text formatting, authentication). These service providers have access to your Personal Data only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.
12. Links to Third-Party Websites
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. The collection and use of your information by those third parties are governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to read their policies before providing information to them.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
